To join the Indian Air Force The AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) is a common entry point for various branches, including Flying, Ground Duty, and Technical Branches General Eligibility Criteria:
Nationality:
The Candidates must be Indian citizens.
- Age:
Typically, the age limit varies depending on the branch and entry mode (e.g., AFCAT, NCC, etc.). For the AFCAT, the age limit is usually between 20 and 26 years.
Educational Qualification:
Depending upon the branch specific requirement : Generally, a 10+2 pass with Math and Physics is a minimum requirement, along with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) for most branches.
Physical Standards:
Candidates must possess specific physical standards, including height, weight, vision, and other medical requirements.
Marital Status:
For AFCAT entry, unmarried candidates are generally preferred.
Other Entry Modes:
Besides AFCAT, there are other entry modes like NCC (National Cadet Corps) Special Entry and CDSE (Combined Defence Services Examination).
Branch Specific Requirements:
- Flying Branch:
Candidates must have a three-year degree with at least 60% marks and have passed their 10+2 with 50% in Math and Physics. - Technical Branch:
Candidates need a four-year engineering degree (BE/BTech) with at least 60% marks. - Ground Duty Branch:
Candidates need a three-year degree with at least 60% marks for non-technical positions, and a four-year engineering degree for technical positions.
For Airmen: - Group X (Technical):
Candidates need to have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% in English. - Group Y (Non-Technical):
The eligibility criteria for Group Y depend on the specific trade. Some trades require a 10+2 with specific subjects, while others might require a vocational course.

Salary:

IAF Officer Salary:
- Flying Officer: Rs. 56,100 – Rs. 1,10,700 (Pay Scale)
- Squadron Leader: Rs. 69,400 – Rs. 1,36,900 (Pay Scale)
- Wing Commander: Rs. 1,16,700 – Rs. 2,08,700 (Pay Scale)

During training: A monthly stipend of Rs. 56,100 is paid during the last year of training at Air Force institutions.

- 2nd Year: Rs. 33,000 (Monthly) / Rs. 3.96 LPA (Annual)
