Qualification and job requirements for Agniveer Career

  • To qualify for Agniveer and be a part of the Indian Defence Forces, you need to pass the following:

    Eligibility:
    • Nationality:Must be an Indian citizen. 
    • Age Limit: Minimum: 17.5 years and Maximum: 21 years. 
      • Educational Qualifications (General):
        • Agniveer (General): Must have 10th passed with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks and 33% in each subject. 
        • Agniveer (Technical): Must have 12th passed with a science stream (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) with a minimum of 50% marks overall. 
        • Agniveer Tradesmen (All Arms): Class 10th or 8th pass depending on the specific trade. 
        • Indian Air Force Agniveer Vayu: Candidates need to have passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English from an Education Board listed as COBSE member with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
      • Marital Status: Only unmarried candidates (male and female) are eligible for enrollment as Agniveer vayu in the Indian Air Force.
      • Physical Standards:
        • Height:
          • Army: Minimum height is 162 cm for most regions, with some variations for specific roles and regions.
          • Air Force: Minimum height is 152.5 cm for males and 152 cm for females.
            Chest Expansion:
          • Minimum chest circumference should be 77 cms
          • Army: Minimum chest expansion is 5 cm for males. 
          • Navy: Minimum chest expansion is 5 cm for males.
          • Air Force: Minimum chest expansion is 5 cm for males.
        • Physical Fitness Test:
          • Army: Includes a 1.6 km run, pull-ups, 9-foot ditch crossing, and zig-zag balance.
          • Navy: Includes a 1.6 km run and push-ups.
          • Air Force: Includes a 1.6 km run and push-ups.
  • Visual Standards: Candidates should have good vision, and specific requirements vary depending on the branch.
  • Hearing: Candidates should have normal hearing.
  • General Health: Candidates must be fit for the respective branch and conform to medical standards.

  • Specific Categories and Roles:
    • Indian Navy Agniveer (SSR):
      Candidates need to have passed 10+2 with Mathematics & Physics from recognized boards, with at least one of these subjects: Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science.
    • Indian Navy Agniveer (MR):
    • Must have passed the 10th exam from Boards of School Education recognized by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.
  • Selection Process:
    • Candidates must clear all the stages of the selection process, which includes online exams, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and medical examination.

  • Monthly Salary: Agniveers receive a monthly “customized package” that starts at ₹30,000 and increases annually.
    • Year 1: ₹30,000
    • Year 2: ₹33,000
    • Year 3: ₹36,500
    • Year 4: ₹40,000
  • Allowances: Agniveers are entitled to various allowances, including risk and hardship, dress, and travel allowances.
  • Seva Nidhi Package: Upon completion of the four-year contract, Agniveers receive a one-time “Seva Nidhi” package. 
    • This package is approximately ₹10.04 lakh, excluding interest. 
    • The “Seva Nidhi” package is exempt from income tax.
  • Training
    • Agniveer training under the Agnipath scheme involves a 31-week period, including basic military training

Training

  • Agniveer training under the Agnipath scheme involves a 31-week period, including basic military training (BMT) and advanced military training (AMT), followed by on-the-job training in their respective units.
  • Training Centers:
    Agniveers are trained at Regimental Training Centers, such as the Artillery Centre in Hyderabad. Training center may vary depending upon the different job perspective.
  • Intense Training:
    The training is designed to be intensive and optimized to prepare “future-ready” soldiers for the shorter duration of their engagement.
  • On-the-job Training:
    After the 31 weeks of training, Agniveers will be sent to their respective units for on the job training for 6 weeks.
